Nolan's Cigar Bar opens in Traverse City

Nolan's Cigar Bar has become the first cigar bar or lounge in northwest Michigan, with its recent opening in Traverse City, attached to the existing Nolan's Tobacconist.

The bar offers patrons and cigar aficionados the chance to pair cigars with cocktails, beer or wine in downtown Traverse City, at its 336 East Front Street location.

Owned by Mike Nolan, who has been in business as a tobacconist since 1978, the cigar bar is patterned after Detroit-area staples in the cigar scene, like Churchill's of Birmingham, La Casa de la Habana or Jenuwine’s Cigar Lounge.

Nolan's Cigar Bar offers a selection of bourbon and Scotch, frequently paired with cigars, as well as general cocktails, beers and wines.

The opening came after Nolan, in his role as the president of the Michigan Premium Cigar and Pipe Retailer’s Association, worked to change city regulations to allow smoking indoors on the premises of the cigar bar.

That's not to say walking into the bar will be a haze of unpleasant clouds; Nolan's features a top-of-the-line smoke removal system to keep the environment welcoming to all. The cigar bar is open Monday through Saturday, from 2 p.m. until midnight.
