Sonny's Body Shop in Traverse City has made a move, but not too far. The auto service business opened its new facility today at 1824 Cass Hartman Court, right next door to its original location.
The new address offers 18,000 square feet in contrast to Sonny's previous 6,000 square feet, which should give the service center lots more room to serve its customers.
Co-owner Robert Valleau says the new facility, a former machine shop that's been remodeled to suit Sonny's Body Shop's needs, is state-of-the-art.
"We wanted to design an efficient, visually appealing environment to enhance the customer experience," he says.
That includes a drive-up estimating garage, environmentally-friendly spray booths, energy-efficient lighting and a coffee bar for customers. There also are twice the service bays as in the old location, which will allow Sonny's to offer better scheduling and wait times for customers.
Sonny's Body Shop has been locally owned since 1980 and offers complete body and frame work on everything from a sports car to an RV.
