New cafe open in Lake Leelanau

I'm just going to be totally honest here and say that I love to eat far more than I should. I mean, here I am supposed to be writing about the fact that the Thunderbird Café has opened up in Lake Leelanau and my stomach is quite insistently telling me I should be there eating instead.

But, I can't blame it. The Thunderbird Café, which is located by the Northern Latitudes Distillery, offers up some pretty awesome and tasty options.

The restaurant, which is owned by Rachel and John Smith, has a nice little selection that offers up some great specials each day. For me, it's really the soups that get all my attention. Selections like beef and veggie and chili are pretty normal, but there are some days that just get your mouth watering at the idea of something different. Take, for example, the jalapeno lime chicken, or the creamy cheesy asparagus, or the vegetarian taco.

And soup is hardly the only thing you can get that will satisfy those lunch needs. Salads, sandwiches, wraps and -- of course! -- desserts make for an awesome selection.

You can check them out on their Facebook page, or simply stop by Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.
