North x Northwest: Every job should be celebrated
One new job matters.
To many folks, that probably sounds like some sort of political rhetoric about how Michigan is making a push for the future. Each and every job matters, right? We, the people, should cheer on ever new job created and every position filled.
What if it weren't just rhetoric? What if it was indeed the truth? Shouldn't we be happy to see just one new position in our neighborhood? Shouldn't we applaud the local small business that has created one new opening? Can't there be celebration for retaining one more position instead of cutting it to save costs?
We here at Second Wave think so. That's why we're inviting each and every small business to submit their recent hirings and job growth. It can be just one new server at a local restaurant, or a new customer service hire at the local retail store. From engineers to video game designers to marketing gurus to financial planners and everything in between and outside of the normal lines, we really want to know.
What's more is that we want to write about it. We want to herald the new hire, the new expansion and the refilling of that old position. Be it 10 jobs, three new openings or one hire, we really do want to know. It doesn't cost anyone a thing, other than a few minutes of their time.
We invite any small business to contact us via email
with any kind of news that has anything to do with jobs. We want to spread the word about your business and the people who work there and we want to spread the word that, yes, one job does make a difference.
If there is one thing for certain in this state, it's that small business is a driving force behind local and regional economies. At Second Wave, we want to celebrate that small business and the growth it experiences because we think everyone should be aware that any job growth--even one new employee--means a better place for all of us.
