mBank adds new VP in Traverse City

The Traverse City regional locations of mBank have a new leader on their side. Michael Caruso has been hired as VP and senior commercial banking officer in the Manistique-based bank's Traverse City office.

Caruso will be responsible for building the bank's commercial loan portfolio in the northern Lower Peninsula, as well as servicing existing commercial loans. That's an important goal for the bank, which is only recently expanding outside of the Upper Peninsula.

"We are very excited to have someone of his caliber join the mBank team in Traverse City to help promote and grow our presence here," says regional mBank president Andrew Sabatine.

Caruso has a background in finance and business, having spent 24 years in the banking industry. He has worked as a credit analyst, a commercial relationship manager, and served as director of finance for telecom company NetVersant, later managing emerging markets for Associated Bank in Madison, Wisconsin. Since 2006, he has been the market president at BMO Harris Bank in Wisconsin.

The move to Traverse City is a return to Michigan for Caruso, who earned his bachelor's degree at Michigan State University and his MBA at Wayne State University.
