New faces at Munson Health Care

There are several new jobs announcements from Munson Healthcare this month, complete with changes at the top of the health system.

As part of Munson Healthcare's purchase of the Mercy Cadillac and Grayling hospitals, which took effect in early February, current Munson Medical Center president Al Pilong, Jr., also will now fill the role of senior VP of hospital operations for Munson Healthcare.

The new role will focus on integration across the system's four owned hospitals, to ensure quality and continuity of care.

Munson Healthcare also said in its announcement that future leadership positions will be announced as they are developed, and will serve to unify the growing health system in terms of coordination and support in areas like oncology, surgery, finance, and human resources.

At Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital in Frankfort, a new chief nursing officer was named, replacing Debbie Link, who is retiring. Ann Holmes, the new CNO, is returning to the hospital; she worked at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital for about a year and a half until 1990.

Holmes is an Empire resident and a 25-year veteran of Munson Healthcare, most recently as the director of nursing operations at Munson Medical Center.

Two new doctors are joining Munson Medical Center; Jennifer Shockley, M.D. and Eric Snyder, M.D.

Shockley practices at Elk Rapids Primary Care and is a specialist in family medicine. Her office is at 115 Bridge Street in Elk Rapids and she is accepting new patients.

She graduated from University of Michigan Medical School and completed a residency at Munson Medical Center's Family Practice Residency Program.

Snyder is a specialist in otolaryngology and practices at Cass Street ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) Associates at 1104 Cass Street in Traverse City.

He graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine, did a residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, and an otology fellowship at Paparella Ear, Head, and Neck Institute in Minneapolis.
