Oneupweb earns a 2011 Telly Award, donates to a youth shelter as a thank you

So what does a company like Oneupweb do to celebrate winning a 2011 Telly Award?

Donate money to a local charity, of course.

Oneupweb, an interactive digital marketing company based in Traverse City, recently found out that it's music education documentary, Step & Close, earned a silver Telly--it's eighth award.

"We're overjoyed to win our first Silver Telly," says Oneupweb CEO and founder Lisa Wehr. "Not only because it puts us amongst past Telly winners like ESPN and Bon Jovi, but most importantly because our own community was very much involved with the procurement of this award."

There are over 13,000 entries submitted to the Telly Awards annually. Competition varies amongst prestigious worldwide TV stations, production companies, marketing/advertising agencies and organizations.

To celebrate? The company yesterday gave a $2,500 donation to Pete's Place, a youth shelter in Northern Michigan that opened in 2007. It is part of the Third Level Crisis Intervention program.

"We are truly grateful for Oneupweb's gift," says Third Level Crisis Intervention director of youth services Norvilla Bennett. "Oneupweb's donation will fill a gap in personnel and training cost; increasing the quality of care for the youth at Pete's Place. Additionally it will provide more opportunities for our community's teens."
