Petoskey folk artist honored with national award

Petoskey quillwork artist Yvonne Walker Keshick has been awarded a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, a recognition of her skills as a traditional artist.

Excerpt: Yvonne Walker Keshick, an Odawa quillworker from Petoskey, will receive the nation's highest honor in the folk and traditional arts today, Wednesday, Sept. 17.

Keshick is being honor as a 2014 National Heritage Fellow from the National Endowment for the Arts. The award will be presented to Keshick at the Library of Congress' Thomas Jefferson Building in Washington, D.C.
