Grants focus on improving water quality

Water is what sets Michigan from most other Midwest states, with its unparalleled access to the Great Lakes, plus inland lakes and rivers. A chunk of funding will go to grants to keep that resource clean.
 
Excerpt: The state says grants totaling nearly $3.1 million will help improve water quality in Michigan lakes and streams.
 
The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality says funding for 10 projects will help restore impaired waters and protect high-quality waters by reducing sources of sediment, nutrients and other contaminants.
