Carmike Cinemas is upping its presence in Traverse City, as new plans are being made for a bigger theater including an IMAX screen to replace the current one.
Excerpt: Developers in northern Michigan are unveiling big plans this week for a new retail center and 14-screen multiplex theater with an IMAX-sized screen and plush seating at a beleaguered outlet mall near Traverse City.
On Wednesday, Jan. 8, Garfield Township officials will hear informal plans for a new, 60,000-square-foot, 3,000 seat Carmike Cinemas theater at the former Horizon Outlet Mall at 3811 Marketplace Circle, along the U.S. 31 South retail strip.
